Информационный бюллетень № 47
Дорогие друзья!
В этом выпуске нашего бюллетеня мы расскажем Вам о событиях в Детском хосписе за два прошедших месяца.
Подготовка к открытию стационара и переезду в новое здание продолжается.
Мы много встречаемся с нашими коллегами из различных благотворительных фондов и реабилитационных центров, чтобы обсудить возникающие проблемы и обменяться опытом. Так в ноябре социальные педагоги и психологи побывали в районных Центрах социальной реабилитации инвалидов, а на прошлой неделе мы познакомились с представителями фонда «Подари жизнь».
Для нас очень важно, чтобы помощь пациентам оставалась комплексной и не ограничивалась только медицинской работой. Для семей, столкнувшихся с тяжелой болезнью ребенка, помимо качественного лечения и ухода не менее важна возможность получения психологической поддержки, сопровождения обучения и развития ребенка, помощь в решении социальных вопросов. Такие семьи требуют особенного подхода, который непросто осуществлять в условиях обычной городской больницы. Надеемся, что нам удастся реализовать наши идеи, и пациенты, прежние и новые, будут получать всестороннюю помощь и на высоком уровне.
Все пациенты по-прежнему получают необходимые медикаменты и средства ухода. Для детей, проходящих лечение в НИИ Онкологии им.Петрова были приобретены дорогостоящие лекарственные препараты.
Алеша Р. получил специализированную прогулочную коляску для детей с ДЦП. Таким детям, как Алеша, не подходят стандартные инвалидные коляски. В новой коляске Алеше гораздо удобнее сидеть, а мама и бабушка могут с легкостью ее собрать и разобрать во время прогулки.
Для Антона З. был приобретен дыхательный тренажер.
Состояние большинства наших пациентов остается стабильным. Кирилл И. проходит обследование в Институте детской гематологии и трансплантологии им. Р.М.Горбачевой. Жене Б. была сделана операция. Зое М. в начале декабря предстоит операция и эндопротезирование.
Ухудшилось состояние Димы К. Он выписан из НИИ Онкологии и посещается нашими специалистами уже на дому. В октябре у Димы был день рождения. К нему домой приезжали клоуны, которые устроили для мальчика маленький праздник.
15 ноября в семи торговых центрах города прошел благотворительный марафон в рамках 1-ой Европейской Недели Муковисцидоза. Целью акции было привлечение внимание общественности к проблемам детей, больных муковисцидозом, информирование людей об особенностях данного заболевания. Детский хоспис принял участие в этом мероприятии. Наши волонтеры совместно с волонтерами БФ «Наташа» общались с людьми в торговых центрах, отвечали на вопросы и раздавали информационные листовки.
20 октября психологи Института детской гематологии и трансплантологии им. Р.М.Горбачевой организовали Круглый стол для специалистов, работающих в области детской онкологии. Встреча была посвящена основным проблемам, с которыми сталкиваются психологи на детских онкологических отделениях, и обмену профессиональным опытом. Такие встречи планируется проводить раз в два месяца.
Продолжаются группы встреч для родителей, которые проводит психолог Детского хосписа Т.А.Никонова. Эти занятия дают возможность мамам получить групповую поддержку, новый опыт, поделиться своими проблемами, а при необходимости пройти индивидуальную или семейную психотерапию.
В Детском хосписе полным ходом идет подготовка к поздравлению детей с Новым годом. Ребята уже написали письмо Деду Морозу со своими заветными мечтами. Некоторые волонтеры выразили желание побывать в роли Снегурочек и Дедов Морозов. На сайтах вывешены списки возможных подарков.
Как всегда, в октябре-ноябре для детей было организовано много разнообразных мероприятий.
Начал свою работу «Музей в чемодане». Ребята могут прямо у себя дома рассмотреть, подержать в руках и узнать историю различных старинных вещей.
Мамы наших пациентов – удивительные люди. На протяжении многих лет они самоотверженно ухаживают за своими детьми, проводят долгие месяцы в больницах, где часто одна кровать на ребенка и маму, еще успевают вести хозяйство, работать и заботиться об остальной семье. Специально для них мы договорились о посещении концерта Елены Ваенги и мюзикла «Ромео и Джульетта».
Раз в месяц в НИИ Онкологии приезжает парикмахер Мария. Маша делает всем желающим стрижки и помогает выглядеть мамам красивыми и ухоженными. Для ребенка очень важно видеть рядом спокойную, собранную, красивую маму. Маму, которая бы напоминала ему дом и помогала сохранять надежду, оптимизм и силу духа.
В дни школьных каникул ребята побывали в цирке братьев Запашных. Дети были в восторге от постановки, трюков, животных, которые также являлись участниками представления.
Большое впечатление произвело шоу «Эра динозавров», где можно было увидеть древних ящеров в их натуральную величину.
Для нескольких семей было организована поездка в аквапарк. Не правда ли, это замечательно: прямо из холодной сумрачной осени очутиться в мире лета, отдыха и веселья?
Дети посетили спектакль Театра кошек Юрия Куклачева, спектакль «Как Бабы-Яги сказку спасали» и представление с участием клоунов.
Еще одно важно событие прошло на детском отделении НИИ Онкологии. 27 октября состоялась презентация мультипликационного фильма Жени Б. Женя был режиссером и автором идеи, а помогали ему другие ребята, лечащиеся на отделении, и участники студии «ДА!».

В этом выпуске мы хотим рассказать о нашей медицинской сестре Семенцул Ирине Михайловне. Ирина отличается редкостным терпением и умением с юмором посмотреть на любую ситуацию. Добрая и внешне мягкая, она может спокойно и твердо побеседовать с родителями, убедить их в необходимости выполнения назначений, всегда готова отозваться на просьбу семьи пациента, иногда в ущерб и своему личному времени. Мы рады, что в нашем коллективе есть такой приятный и надежный человек как Ирина Михайловна.
В декабре нам предстоит самое хлопотное, но и самое приятное мероприятие - Новогодний праздник для детей и развозка подарков.

Newsletter, October - November 2009
Dear friends,
In this issue of our newsletter we will tell you about events which happened in Children's Hospice during the past two months.
Preparations for opening the new residential Children’s Hospice facility and for the move into the new building continued. We met with colleagues from various charities and rehabilitation centers to discuss apparent problems and to share our experiences. For example, in November our social workers and psychologists visited public social rehabilitation centers for the disabled in several districts of Saint-Petersburg. Last week we met with representatives of the Fund “Podari Zhisn” ("Give a Life").
It is very important for us to offer comprehensive and co-ordinated care to our patients which would not be only confined to medical work. In addition to qualified treatment and care, it is no less important for a family facing a serious illness of their child to have the possibility to receive psychological support and assistance in solving social issues such as school education and their child’s training and development. These families require a special approach, which is not easy to implement in a normal city hospital. We hope that we can realize our ideas and our patients, old and new ones, will receive comprehensive support on a high level.
All our patients continued to receive the necessary medication and care. This month we purchased expensive pharmaceuticals for children who are undergoing a treatment at the Petrov Scientific Research Institute of Oncology.
Alyosha R. received a specialized strolling wheelchair for children with cerebral palsy. Standard wheelchairs do not fit children like Alyosha. He now can sit much easier in the new wheelchair. His mother and grandmother can easily fold and unfold it during a stroll.
Anton Z. was presented with a respiratory simulator.
The health condition of the majority of our patients remained stable. Kirill I. underwent tests at the Raisa Gorbacheva Institute of Pediatric Hematology and Transplantation. Zhenya B. underwent surgery. Zoya M. will have surgery and receive an implant in early December.
Health condition of Dima K. has worsened. He was discharged from the Oncology Research Institute and was placed in home care by our specialists. In October, Dima celebrated his birthday. Clowns came to his home and arranged a small holiday for the boy.
On November 15, in seven shopping centers of the city a charity marathon dedicated to the 1st European Week of Cystic Fibrosis was held. The event aimed to attract public attention to the problems of children with CF and to inform people about features of this disease. Children's Hospice took part in this event. Our volunteers together with volunteers from Charitable Fund "Natasha" talked to people in shopping centers, answered questions and handed out information leaflets.
On October 20, psychologists from Raisa Gorbacheva Institute of Pediatric Hematology and Transplantation arranged a roundtable talk for professionals working in pediatric oncology. The meeting focused on the major issues faced by psychologists at the pediatric hospital departments for cancer treatment and on professional experience exchange. Such meetings will be scheduled once every two months.
Group meetings for parents conducted by Children’s Hospice psychologist T. Nikonova were continued. These classes gave the mothers the opportunity to receive group support, to gather new experiences, to share their problems, and if necessary to go through an individual or family psychotherapy.
The preparations for congratulating the children on Christmas and New Year’s are being implemented in the Children's Hospice in full swing. The children have already written letters to Father Frost (Russian Santa Claus) with their cherished dreams. Some volunteers expressed a desire to play the role of Father Frost or Snow Maiden. On our Website we posted lists of possible gifts to children so that people of good will could select something and fulfill a child’s cherished wish.
As always, many various activities were arranged in October and November for children.
The project “Museum in Suitcase” began its work. Our children have a chance to scrutinize, to hold in their hands and to learn the history of various antiques right at home.
The mothers of our patients are astonishing people. They care selflessly for their children for many years, spend many months in hospitals where there is often only one bed available for child and mother. At the same time they still manage to keep house, to work and to take care of the rest of the family. Especially for them we arranged a free visit to a concert by Elena Vayenga and to the musical "Romeo and Juliet".
Once a month, a volunteer hairdresser Maria comes to the Oncology Research Institute. Maria gives haircuts to all interested and helps the mothers to look beautiful and well. It is very important for a child to see a calm, accurate, and beautiful mother next to him; a mother, who would remind him of home through her look and thus would help him to keep hope, optimism and strength of spirit.
During school holidays, our children attended a circus show by Brothers Zapashny. The children were delighted by performances, stunts, and animals who also participated in the show.
The children were also very impressed by the show "Age of the Dinosaurs", where they could see the ancient lizards in their natural size.
For a number of families we arranged a trip to an Aqua Park. Don’t you think that's great - right out of the cold gloomy autumn to find yourself in the world of summer, recreation and fun?
The children attended also a performance of Cats Theatre by Yuri Kuklachev: a show "How did Baba Yaga (a witch-like character in Slavic folklore) save a fairy-tale" and a performance with participation of clowns.
Another important event took place at the Children's Department of the Oncology Research Institute. On October 27, a presentation of animated cartoon film by Zhenya B. was held. Zhenya was the author of the idea and the film director. Other kids being treated at the department as well as the participants of the "YES!" studio helped him actively. In this issue of our newsletter we would like to talk to you about our nurse Irina Sementsul. Irina distinguishes herself by uncommon patience and her ability to look at any situation with humor. Though she looks very kind and gentle, she can calmly and firmly talk to parents in order to convince them to perform her prescriptions. She is always ready to respond to a request by any patient’s family, sometimes even to the detriment of her personal time. We are pleased to have such a pleasant and reliable person as Irina in our team.
In December, we anticipate a very troublesome (because of so many gifts to be delivered on time) but also the most enjoyable event – the New Year’s Celebration for children and distribution of gifts.
